Transition to Phase IV Learning Model
On January 5, the Rochester Public School Board approved a change in the RPS learning model, based on the December 16 guidance from Governor Walz, in addition to updated guidance from Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
The Governor’s announcement asked school districts to prioritize returning our youngest learners to the classroom. Based on this, our Pre K and elementary students will return to the hybrid learning model with a “rolling start” (three grades at a time) beginning January 19. This information is outlined in the document linked below.
At this time, our secondary students will remain in Distance Learning Plus Supports due to the COVID-19 transmission rates, per the MDE’s Safe Learning Plan guidance. We will continue to review guidance and COVID-19 data regarding the secondary learning model.
